Our Collective

Impact Model

Read Up uses a collective impact model to unite schools, nonprofits and community leaders across North Texas in a coordinated effort to improve early literacy outcomes.

By aligning strategies, pooling resources and delivering high-impact literacy instruction to the students who need it most, we are making progress happen faster, more effectively and at a greater scale than any one organization could alone.

How Our Collaboration Works

Through our collective impact model, we deliver scalable solutions that:

  • Coordinate and streamline services to ensure resources are targeted where they’re needed most and duplication is avoided.

  • Ensure high-quality literacy support by upholding shared standards for high-impact literacy programming that accelerates student learning.

  • Drive system-level change by advocating for effective literacy policies, instructional practices based on the science of reading, and fostering strong partnerships with schools and community leaders.

  • Collect, analyze, and share real-time data to guide evidence-based decisions and instruction, track progress, and drive continuous improvement

  • Maximizes efficiency and philanthropic dollars by engaging in joint fundraising, shared professional development, coaching, data analysis, and other shared services.

Creating Stronger Partnerships

From 2022 to 2025, Read Up partners tracked progress across seven core elements of collaboration on a scale from 1 to 5. All showed measurable growth, reflecting stronger alignment and deeper partnership.

Key gains:

  • Collective Commitments: 2.0 → 4.8

  • Shared Vision: 2.7 → 4.5

  • Common Measures: 2.0 → 4.0

  • Data-Informed Practices: 3.3 → 3.8

Scale

1 – Pre-Initiating – Not yet started or connected

2 – Initiating – Early steps led by a few

3 – Implementing – Systems forming, most partners engaged

4 – Developing – Growing momentum and shared commitment

5 – Sustaining – Fully embedded and continuously improved
